Westmeath not to offer replay

THERE is no question of Westmeath offering Offaly a replay of their Leinster SFC which gave them their first championship victory over the Faithful County in 55 years.

Westmeath not to offer replay

Television replay showed that a Westmeath point scored in the first half was in fact wide, but Westmeath can point to a late JP Casey score which wasn’t given, saying over the full game, one decision balanced out the other.

Westmeath PRO Patrick O’Doherty said as far as his county board was concerned the game was won on the field of play and there the matter ends.

Offaly held a special county board meeting on Tuesday night, where they viewed two videos of the game and later issued a statement through PRO Pat Teehan, in which he stated that his county board was extremely annoyed at being beaten in such a manner in the championship.
