It was the home side that made the early running with the scoring prowess of sisters Emer and Marie Watson to give them an interval lead of 1-5 to 0-1. Tipperary senior Claire Grogan hitting their point in the opening minutes.

On the resumption, the visitors toiled hard to get back into contention with points from Lorraine Davies and Grogan only for Cork to come storming back with a goal from Mary Coleman.

However, the Blue and Gold had a goal from Davies and points from Julie Kirwan and Grogan left just four points between the sides, but the Rebels held out.

Scorers for Cork: M Watson 1-3, M Coleman 1-0, E Watson 0-2, A Geary and M O'Neill 0-1 each.

Tipperary: L Davies 1-1, C Grogan 0-3, J Kirwan 0-1.
