Murray's double blast for Offaly

The hosts hit nine wides before opening a five-point interval lead, but John MacIntyre's side re-emerged a changed outfit for the re-start, adding two goals from Damien Murray.

Murray, Stephen Brown and Brian Carroll all added points as Offaly led 2-14 to 0-7. Gregory Biggs scored five points from play for Derry, who finished with 14 men when sub John O'Dwyer received a straight red card.

The sides were level on four second -half occasions before Ray Foley hit a crucial goal, set up by a long outfield ball from Ruairí Dunbar.
