RTÉ stay silent on Quinn affair

RTÉ have declined to answer criticism of the ‘Sunday Game’ levelled at the programme by Clare county board secretary Pat Fitzgerald in his report to next weekend’s convention.

Mr Fitzgerald hit out at the station for a “public castigation” of hurler Gerry Quinn following the incident in which Henry Shefflin was injured in the replay of the All-Ireland hurling quarter-final.

He said it was a “trial by the media” and he took issue with the programme analysts, former Cork captain Tomás Mulcahy and retired Wexford player Larry O’Gorman.
