Cork attacking trio return for league clash with Galway

JOE DEANE, Niall McCarthy and Neil Ronan, all missing for Cork’s defeat by Clare last weekend because of hamstring problems, return to the side for Sunday’s Allianz National Hurling League clash with Galway at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Deane is chosen in his customary left corner-forward berth, with McCarthy replacing Pat Mulcahy at centre-forward. Ronan takes over the left half-forward position from the promising Kieran Murphy of Erins Own.

Other changes see John Browne selected at left corner-back and Kevin Hartnett at right half-back. Those positions were filled by Cian O’Connor and Graham Callinan last Sunday.

John Gardiner continues at centre-back in the absence of Ronan Curran, while Ben O’Connor moves to right half-forward with Kieran Murphy of Sarsfields switching from the left to the right corner of attack.

For their game with Kilkenny at Nowlan Park, Tipperary have made two changes and a number of positional switches from the side that surprised Galway last weekend.

Full-forward Micheal Webster has been ruled out because of a hamstring injury and his place has been allocated to Under-21 player Darragh Egan from Kildangan.

Francis Devanney returns at centre-forward with John Devane moving to left half-forward and skipper Benny Dunne switching to midfield in place of Pa Morrissey.

Paul Kelly, down with flu and David Kennedy, afflicted by a groin strain, were not considered for selection.

Waterford include seven of last year’s Munster championship-winning team for tomorrow’s relegation play-off with Down at Fraher Field.

With top-flight status assured for next season, the selectors have opted to give the fringe players a start.

The players from last year’s Munster final are Declan Prendergast, Dave Bennett, Eoin McGrath, Eoin Kelly, Dan Shanahan, Tony Browne and John Mullane.

Laois have made one change and a number of positional switches from the team that beat Down last weekend for tomorrow’s visit to Kilmallock to take on Limerick.

Canice Coonan comes in for Joe Fitzpatrick at right half-back, while Darren Rooney and James Young swap places with the former now on the forty and the latter at midfield.

Dublin have made two changes for tomorrow’s relegation clash with Antrim at Casement Park.

Darragh Spain makes his league debut at full-back in place of Simon Daly, while Stuart Mullen replaces Michael Carton at top of the left.

Armagh boss Joe Kernan has named the same team for Sunday’s re-scheduled football league semi-final against Mayo in Croke Park.
