Foley hits back at rumours of absenteeism

LIMERICK hurler Mark Foley has hit out at suggestions that he had deliberately absented himself from the team in the build-up to Padjoe Whelahan's departure as manager last week.

Specifically, Foley and his family were annoyed by reports 'a mysterious illness had disappeared', allowing him to play against Down in Sunday's third round Allianz League game.

Foley made it clear that he had missed the opening two rounds, against Cork and Tipperary, because of a combination of injury and illness.
