Maher injury blow for Tipperary

PHILIP MAHER has been ruled out of Tipperary team to play Clare in the Munster SHC semi-final on Sunday.

Maher injury blow for Tipperary

Maher, who lined out at full back in the first round victory over Limerick, suffered a knee cartilage injury in training on Sunday night.

He underwent a scan in Waterford Regional Hospital and will undergo an surgery later in the week.

The Borrisoleigh’s man career has been blighted by such injury problems.

The former Allstar missed the entire 2003 championship season after sustaining cruciate knee ligament damage in their NHL Final defeat to Kilkenny and has since struggled to return his 2001 Munster and All-Ireland winning form.

Ken Hogan is to name his team after training in Thurles tomorrow night.
