Spioraid Naoimh sound a warning with demolition job

Inspired by Cork minors Michael Aherne and Shane O'Neill and with Owen McCann and Denis Crowley also in form up front, Kilmallock were a beaten side once Crowley set up Peter O'Sullivan for his first goal in the 21st minute.

It gave Spioraid Naoimh the impetus to lead 1-8 to 0-7 at the break despite playing against the strong breeze.

Up to then the unerring Eoin Ryan and John Manning had powered Kilmallock into a 0-6 to 0-2 lead after the opening quarter but once Aherne got a grip on the contest Kilmallock were in big trouble.

Playing with the wind in the second half Spioraid Naoimh moved O'Neill to mid-field in a switch with Eoin Joyce and he, along with his Bishopstown club man Ronan Conway, ruled the roost in the middle of the park.

Five minutes into the half Aherne had Spioraid Naoimh's second goal, following up after his free had been blocked.

Three minutes later Joyce was in for their third and with O'Neill giving a class display, firing over some great points, Spioraid Naoimh lead 3-11 to 1-8 after the third quarter, Tiernan Ryan blasting home a Kilmallock goal in the 43rd minute after Gavin O'Mahony's free had been blocked on the line.

Spioraid Naoimh were ruthless in the final quarter. Brian Nunan and Aherne packed on points and then a three-goal blast in as many minutes; McCann, O'Sullivan, with his second, and even corner-back Diarmuid McSweeney getting in on the act with Spioraid Naomh's 6th.

St. Coleman's and Cashel beware.
