Broken jaw will keep Kerry’s Doona sidelined
Doona suffered a broken jaw in two places following an accidental clash with Declan O’Sullivan during a training session in Lanzarote last week which will keep him out of action for at least three months.
The squad returned home on Saturday and Doona was brought to Cork University Hospital where he underwent surgery.
Following the appointment of Jack O’Connor as coach to the Kerry senior team, Doona was one of a number of new players drafted into the squad following a series of impressive displays at county minor and colleges levels.
As a result of the injury, Doona was unable to join his inter-county colleague Donncha Walsh on the Mid Kerry team for yesterday’s Duhallow U-21 football tournament final against Douglas in Kanturk which the city side won 1-9 to 0-10.
