LIMERICK County Board chairman Denis Holmes confirmed yesterday that Liam Lenihan and Ger Cunningham had been re-appointed as senior hurling selectors for 2006, to assist manager Joe McKenna, subject to approval at a full county board meeting.

“Ger had been involved with Thurles Sarsfields who reached the Tipperary senior hurling final and it was only fair that we should have waited until after that game before confirming his position with us. Ger, who also enjoyed success with Newtownshandrum in the past, is now to concentrate with the Limerick team.”

Meanwhile, Joe Redington and Mossy McCarthy have been appointed selectors to the Limerick senior football team for one year. Redington, of the Milford club, played for 18 years with the county senior team and retired in 1997. He won a county senior medal with Monaleen in 1978. Mossy McCarthy of Drom-Broadford was manager in the club’s three county senior titles in 2000, 2003 and 2004.
