Limerick name three newcomers

LIMERICK football manager Liam Kearns introduces three championship newcomers for Sunday’s Munster semi-final against All-Ireland champions Kerry at the Gaelic Grounds.

They are left corner-forward Seanie Buckley, from Drom Broadford, Michael Crowley, Monaleen, and son of former Kerry great DJ Crowley, and wing back Padraig Browne, who came on as substitute against the Kindom in last season’s final.

Jason Stokes will be starting his first competitive game in nine months, at midfield, releasing John Galvin to play at number 14.

Goalkeeper Seamus O’Donnell, like Stokes, has not played in competitive fare since the 2004 Munster final.

Top scorer Michael Reidy is on the substitutes bench. Dual players Conor Fitzgerald and Stephen Lucey are included in the starting lineup.

Put to the pin of their collar to defeat London in the opening round, Roscommon have made a number of changes for next Sunday’s Connacht SFC semi-final clash with Mayo at Dr. Hyde Park.

John Whyte returns at full back in place of Conor Beirne. Seam McDermot takes over the left corner back position from John Ryan. John Rogers moves to left half back with Francie Grehan now positioned on the forty. Brian Higgins is preferred to Michael Finneran at midfield, while Nigel Dineen’s place at full forward is now being filled by Stephen Lohan.

Kildare made a number of changes for Sunday’s Leinster semi-final against Laois. Andrew McLoughlin returns after injury at left corner back, with James Lonergan switching over to the right corner and former All Star Anthony Rainbow taking over the full back berth.

In attack Dermot Earley is selected at centre forward, with Derek McCormack, who made a huge impression when coming on as a substitute against Westmeath, moving to the right wing to the exclusion of Eamann Callaghan. Ross Glavin, who replaced Stuart Mackenzie-Smith at full forward during the Westmeath game, retains the No. 14 shirt.

Offaly manager Kevin Kilmurray has confirmed that three players have quit the panel after being overlooked for Saturday’s All-Ireland football qualifier against Carlow in Dr Cullen Park.

The long-serving pair James Grennan and John Kenny have departed the panel, as has St. Rynagh’s defender Ger Rafferty. Barry Malone has also withdrawn due to injury.

Carlow, most impressive in their Leinster quarter-final defeat by Wexford have announced an unchanged side for their All-Ireland qualifier with Offaly at Dr. Cullen Park on Saturday.

Waterford have made four changes from the side that lost to Clare in Munster for their All-Ireland qualifier against Louth at Drogheda on Saturday. Eamonn Walsh returns at full back to the exclusion of Laurence Hurney. Ritchie Hennessy takes over the left corner back berth from namesake Niall.
