Harte, whose side defeated the Kingdom in the All-Ireland semi-final before winning the Sam Maguire for the first time, has stoutly defended his team against charges of negativity in their historic campaign.

In his new book Kicking Down Heaven’s Door: Diary of a Football Manager, Harte claims football is changing, and teams such as Kerry need to be more innovative in their approach and not reliant on previous attitudes and techniques.
