KILKENNY manager Séan Warren was a happy man following his side’s triumphant League opener against the reigning All-Ireland and League camogie champions Tipperary (0-11 to 1-7) in Kilmanagh, Kilkenny.

Emer McDonnell’s goal midway through the first half gave Tipp a one point interval lead, but an inspired Sinéad Millea and Imelda Kennedy turned the tables in the second half. Wexford also got their League campaign off to a winning start with a resounding 4-9 to 1-1 victory over Limerick. Michelle Hearne grabbed two of the goals.

Meanwhile, there was a major shock in the colleges Junior ‘A All-Ireland semi-finals when the 2004 All-Ireland champions Coláiste Bride of Enniscorthy were defeated 2-7 to 3-2 by Presentation, Athenry. Their final opponents will be St. Mary’s Magherafelt who defeated St.Mary’s Charleville, 2-3 to 1-3.
