GAA ready to abandon International Rules series

GAA chiefs will abandon the International Rules Series unless serious concerns over foul play, and the punishment of same, can be resolved with their AFL counterparts in Melbourne tomorrow.

The behaviour of Australian joint captain Chris Johnson in last October's second test in Melbourne caused outrage among followers. However, the GAA accept that Irish players were not faultless either.

Incoming GAA president Nicky Brennan emphasised that while they wished the series to continue it would be conditional on attitudes changing.
