McKenna test for Coleman

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte believes Eamonn Coleman will relish his Dr McKenna Cup opener as Cavan take on the Red Hands on Sunday.

Harte feels the Breffni boss will be delighted with an early opportunity to test his side against one of the best teams in the country.

“Tyrone, with their recent history, are always viewed as a yardstick for other teams to judge themselves against, find out where they are at,” he said.

While both managers will use the game to test new talent, both are known for their fiercely competitive spirit, and spectators can expect a hard-fought contest.

Harte has looked at around 60 players in a series of trials as he trawled the county for undiscovered potential, and some of these aspiring Red Hands will be on duty on Sunday.
