Rebels may go without magnificent seven
Gary Murphy, Niall Geary, Brian O’Regan, Alan Cronin, Sean O’Brien, James Masters and William Morgan will be in action on Saturday when Nemo take on Dr Crokes in the final of the Munster Club Division One League final at Enniskeane.
And with the Munster champions’ All-Ireland club semi-final with St Gall’s of Antrim looming, selector John Corcoran said yesterday the Cork mentors were “not sure” about the availability of the Nemo players.
A definite absentee is the versatile Kevin MacMahon because his club, Carbery Rangers, are involved in the All-Ireland club intermediate semi-final on Sunday. The two sides are not expected to be named until later in the week.
Clare will be without 10 of their panel for their Waterford Crystal semi-final showdown with Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday.
Pat Donnellan and Philip Brennan will be on opposing sides when University of Limerick take on Waterford IT in the other semi-final. Andrew Quinn, Jonathon Clancy, Fergus Flynn, John Coen, James McInerney and Enda Collins are all involved with Limerick IT in the Waterford Crystal shield competition.
Also unavailable to boss Anthony Daly are students, Gerry O’Grady and Cathal Lafferty, due to play with NUIG in the Connacht league final. However, Davy Fitzgerald, Brian Lohan, Seanie McMahon, Tony Carmody and Niall Gilligan are due home from the AllStars trip.
