History in the making as King's Inns preprare for Fitzgibbon Cup debut

HISTORY will be created this weekend when The King's Inns, the institution responsible for training Ireland's barristers, compete in the Fitzgibbon weekend for the first time.

This afternoon they will play Letterkenny IT in the Fergal Maher Cup semi-final at Cork IT Grounds, at 1pm.The King's Inns impressed on their way to the semi-final, defeating St Marys College (Belfast) and Coláiste Mhuire (Dublin).

Their team will include current Offaly vice-captain Rory Hannify, former Clare senior Stiofan Fitzpatrick who played Fitzgibbon hurling with UCC and former Wexford senior James McDonald.

This is a major step for the Kings Inns which was founded by Henry VIII in 1542. Previous to this year the only renowned barrister/hurler who attended the college was the late former Taoiseach, Jack Lynch.
