McKenzie-Smith to miss rest of season

KILDARE forward Stuart McKenzie-Smith looks set to miss the rest of the championship after dislocating his elbow in an incident in Newbridge on Sunday night.

McKenzie-Smith to miss rest of season

The Sarsfields player is believed to have suffered the injury on the town’s main street just hours after appearing as a substitute for the county in their disappointing 11-point defeat to Laois at Croke Park.

McKenzie-Smith was a key part of the Kildare side that narrowly lost the 2003 Leinster final to Laois before taking last season off to spend a year in Canada.

He began the championship playing as corner-forward against Wicklow last month but began the last two games against Westmeath and Laois on the bench.

Better news for Kildare is the fact that Eamon Callaghan - another man who featured as a substitute at the weekend - did not fracture an ankle as was first feared.
