Cadogan in top form as Douglas hit back to beat battling Abbey
Playing with a strong wind, Douglas built up a good lead by the break, 1-11 to 0-4, and must have felt pleased facing the wind in the second period.
All changed in the second half.
Lorcan O'Dwyer, controlling in the centre of the field, and John Kelly, sweeping up in the half back line, put the Douglas defence under severe pressure, and two goals in the 42nd and 43rd minute by Barry Grogan and Timmy Dalton put the Tipperary side back in the game, 2-6 to 1-12.
Although Mark O'Callaghan stretched Douglas' lead with a point shortly afterwards, the Tipperary school got the next six points in a row to go into a two point lead with six minutes left.
Then Eoin Cadogan burst out of defence, and when fouled, that lead was reduced to a point.
Cadogan continued to inspire and his long clearances set up excellent chances; availed of by O'Leary, Derek O'Callaghan and Brian O'Connor to see the Cork side home.
