O’Connor anger over Spillane jibe

ALL-IRELAND winning Kerry coach Jack O'Connor has launched a stinging broadside at former Kingdom ace turned pundit Pat Spillane for comments he made after O'Connor's appointment to the Kerry hot seat.

O’Connor anger over Spillane jibe

O'Connor is furious over a jibe from Spillane about his football cv featuring a defeat to Waterford when he was still Under 21 coach to Kerry last year. “He wasn’t going on my record, he was taking the legs from under me when I hadn't coached a single game with the Kerry seniors,” O'Connor declares in an interview in today's Irish Examiner.

“There was no mention that I had trained two U21 All-Ireland winning teams, been a selector on another one, and been a selector on two All-Ireland winning senior Kerry teams. I took that very personally. I would have no time for Pat Spillane now. Anything he would say about me or Kerry football, I’d have no respect for. None.”
