Watson’s late point earns Mary’s replay

A DRAW was the fairest result in this Munster Colleges Junior A camogie decider at Feenagh on Saturday.

Despite St Mary’s early advantage, wind-assisted Presentation went into the lead after a 12th minute goal from Gráinne Cronin. However, with Mary O’Mahony and Fionnuala Dore soaking much of the Bandon pressure, Charleville reached the break trailing by one point.

But, it was the visitors who added points from Coomey and Long to stretch their lead to three within minutes of the restart. With the help of Áine Watson the sides were level entering the closing quarter. Bandon substitute Marie Condon put her side a point clear before Watson’s last strike fittingly ensured another meeting.

GOALS from Ann Marie Fitzgerald, Ciara McDermott, Lorraine Lynch and Mairead Scanlon powered the Clare side to the Munster Junior B title at Scariff on Saturday. Stunned by goals from Linda Fanning, Ciara Johnson and Therese Burke, the home side reacted better to the elements.
