Award for Stradbally’s Ahearne

Sean Ahearne, who orchestrated Stradbally’s four-in-a-row county championship title wins and followed up with that historic Munster club football championship semi-final victory over Bishopstown last Sunday, has been named the Park Hotel Sport Star Of The Month for October.

A former star player himself with club and county, Ahearne’s managerial record is second to none in the Decies with those four county title wins on the trot last achieved almost sixty years ago.

Presenting the trophy, Pierce Flynn of the Park Hotel lauded the enormity of Stradbally’s achievement and the crucial role Ahearne has played in it.
