O'Sullivan will get late Kerry fitness test

KERRY have left a vacancy at centre-forward on their team to meet Galway in Sunday's Allianz NFL final at Croke Park pending a late fitness test on Declan O'Sullivan.

The Kerry selectors have also made a number of changes from the side that defeated Limerick in the semi-final. Eamonn Fitzmaurice returns after suspension and takes over the centre-back position, with Seamus Moynihan moving to left half back to the exclusion of Mark O'Shea.

With Dara Ó Sé ruled out because of suspension, Eoin Brosnan is named as the new midfield partner to William Kirby. If O'Sullivan is passed fit to play he will take over the centre-forward berth vacated by Brosnan.

O'Sullivan started the Limerick game at full-forward and this position has now been delegated to Johnny Crowley, with Dara Ó Cinneide being listed in the substitutes panel.

Colm Cooper, who gave cause for concern earlier in the week, was given the green light to start in the right corner last night.

Meanwhile, Galway are keeping their cards held close to their chest and will not announce their team until the weekend. However, Padraigh Joyce, who injured a toe when he crashed into an advertising hoarding in last Sunday's semi-final replay victory over All-Ireland champions Tyrone, is expected to be given the all-clear.

Despite their great League victory over Midland neighbours Offaly last weekend, Laois have made four changes on their side to meet Carlow in the opening round of the Leinster SHC at Dr. Cullen Park on Sunday.

Joe Fitzpatrick is selected at right half back with Darren Rooney moving to midfield to the exclusion of Eamonn Jackman.

James Walsh takes over from the suspended David Cuddy at midfield. Kenneth Coonan comes in at right half forward in place of Robert Jones, while Tommy Fitzgerald is named at right corner forward with Cathal Brophy dropping down to the substitutes bench.

Kildare make just one change in attack for tomorrow's replayed Leinster U-21 FC final in Portlaoise.

Former county minor Michael Cocoman from the Kill club replaces Shane Darcy of Two Mile House in the full-forward position, as team manger Peter McConnon strives to strengthen an attack which scored just seven points, two of them from frees in last Saturday's drawn encounter.
