More rules will need to be changed
For example, there will be a knock-on effect as a result of changing the infamous Rule 42; other rules will need to be amended to ensure consistency within the rule-book. The likes of Rules 3, 4, 5, 43 and 44 will have to be altered as a consequence, given that those rules relate to either the general aims of the Association as a whole or the powers of the Central Council. However, Rule 42’s precedence in this matter will also have to be given due prominence in any successful motion.
The crucial change being sought is obviously to allow non-GAA games to be played in Croke Park. As it stands, this is in direct conflict with the aims and objectives of the GAA, and that conflict will have to be addressed in any successful motion. The wording will have to acknowledge that the stadium is to be used for other purposes, but specifically for other field games. At the same time the wording must be specific enough to limit the change to those field games in particular.
