Kavanagh proves a real star for Galway
Kavanagh’s tally of 1-7 in the opening half was enough to kill off the black and amber. Backed by tremendous support play from Tracey Laheen and Aine Hillary the home side clocked up 2-11 that helped them into an unassailable 15-point lead at the break. Notably Hillary sent a sideline cut of 45 metres all the way to the net on the approach to the interval.
However, Sinead Millea set a Cats comeback in motion with a goal eight minutes after the restart but they lost their way until Millea again set up Ann Marie Young for their second goal six minutes from time.
