DUBLIN manager Tommy Lyons offered his resignation to the County Board following their Leinster SFC defeat to Westmeath at Croke Park.

The offer was rejected by chairman John Bailey and Lyons will lead Dublin for the remainder of the championship, starting with the qualifier against London next Saturday in Parnell Park.

However the Board are believed to have targeted Dublin legend Brian Mullins and former Galway footballer Brian Talty as the men to replace Lyons when his contract ends this year.
