Limerick finish is lethal

Waterford forced the early pace, and Seamas Prendergast’s superb goal strike on five minutes gave them the perfect start. But with Mark Foley emerging as a major influence at corner back, Ollie Moran rampant at midfield, and Mark Keane unerring in his freetaking, Limerick quickly settled.

Keane put them in front in the 18th minute, and while Waterford benefited from the introduction of Ken McGrath, the winners weren’t flattered by their 0-12 to 1-8 interval lead.

Extra time was looming when sub Dan Shanahan scored a great Waterford equaliser in the 66th minute. But it was Limerick who finished in style with five unanswered quality points.
