Dublin defeat still haunts Lawn as he slips into retirement

PRIVATELY, ‘veteran’ Tyrone defender Chris Lawn had a lot to celebrate in Croke Park on Sunday before he, too, decided to slip quietly into retirement.

Yet, he was reluctant to talk yesterday about his personal odyssey, about 'surviving' the 1995 All-Ireland final defeat by Dublin, about conquering a career-threatening injury 12 months ago.

Lawn, aged 33, who was introduced in the 71st minute of the 2003 final, is still haunted by memories of the decider ten years ago in which Dublin beat Tyrone.
