The winners led 0-7 to 0-4 at the break and sealed victory with second-half goals from Peter Downey and Paul Cahill.

The expected Clonmel second-half challenge never materialised and they could only notch two points as they finished the hour with 13 players following the sendings off of Fergal O'Callaghan and Ian Barnes.

MOYLE ROVERS, without former Allstar Declan Browne and trailing 0-5 to 0-3 after 38 minutes, were inspired by an opportunist goal from full-forward Pádraig Kelly to dash the hopes of Cahir in this keenly contested quarter-final at Ardfinnan.

First-half points from Kevin Condon (2) and Kelly gave Rovers an interval point lead over Cahir, who had responded with scores from Benny Hickey (free) and Gary Morrison.

Cahir opened the second-half with three unanswered points from James McGrath, James Hyland and Niall Morrison but were rocked by Kelly's fisted goal on 48 minutes which gave Rovers a 1-3 to 0-5 lead.

The Moyle men sealed victory with points from John Shanahan, Condon (2) and James Williams, with Benny Hickey responding with a pointed free for Cahir.
