Leahy cleared for Críost Rí’s clash with St Brendan’s

ROY LEAHY has finally been cleared to play with Coláiste Chríost Rí in tomorrow’s Irish Examiner Corn Uí Mhuirí quarter-final against St Brendan’s, Killarney at Carrigadrohid.

Leahy received a straight red card in a minor football game last November and there were concerns that he would receive a three-month suspension.

However, the referee has clarified that he sent the player off for dangerous play, which earned him a one-month ban.

Leahy’s availability will strengthen Críost Rí’s challenge against a St. Brendan’s side itching for a return to the limelight after a couple of indifferent years.

At Macroom, Intermediate School Killorglin will be favourites to get the better of Douglas Community School in another Corn Uí Mhuirí quarter-final.

Both these games fell foul of the weather last week.

The winners of tomorrow’s clashes will meet in one semi-final, with the holders, Coláiste na Sceilge, who are chasing their fourth successive Munster title, facing St. Flannan’s Ennis in the other.
