Gaelcoláiste's late strike seals it
Askeaton, thanks to the accuracy of corner-forward Ian Ryan, who kicked their entire first-half total of eight points, led at the break 0-8 to 0-2 with the wind to their backs. Gael Coláiste did start the better with early points from Jack Ó Buachalla and Darren Duinneacha but found it difficult to make further progress.
Gaelcoláiste finished the stronger in the second-half and an inspirational point from defender Tagdh de Londra narrowed the gap to just two points with five minutes remaining.
Then came the crucial moment of the game when O Duinneacha floated in a 40 metre free that deceived Askeaton's keeper Ray Maher and he could only help it into the net and once in front Gaelcoláiste held on.
