Crowley proves there is no substitute for talent

WHERE do the years go? It is a measure of how fast the last one’s flown that Johnny Crowley is a substitute for Kerry on Sunday — albeit a very live one.

Pundits might argue that inter-county GAA is becoming a young man’s game, but come on, Crowley’s only 27. A football man in his prime, with talent to burn.

He collected an All-Star for his efforts in 2001. Yet on Sunday he is not in the starting 15. Why? Because of a 19-year-old called Cooper.
