Kildare’s Ryan overcomes injury odds

IN the immediate aftermath of last Sunday’s absorbing Bank of Ireland Leinster football decider in Croke Park, one of the names that kept cropping up was Glenn Ryan’s.

He may have been on the losing side, but he had given a man-of-the-match performance for Kildare after being introduced 20 minutes into the game.

Laois benefited from the magical influence of Mick O'Dwyer just as Kildare had over the last decade but, as disappointed as he was, Ryan doesn't begrudge them their success. He remembers how they felt when they captured the title five years ago.
