Shields gets starting place against Kerry

ST FINBARR’S promising U21 player Michael Shields has been given a starting place on the Cork team to meet Kerry in the second round of the Allianz NFL under lights at Páirc Uí Rinn on Saturday night next.

Shields came on as a substitute for regular midfielder Nicholas Murphy after the Carrigaline player picked up a shoulder injury during the course of last weekend’s defeat by Offaly in Tullamore. With Murphy ruled out, Shields holds on to his place.

The only other change sees the return of John Hayes at right corner-forward to the exclusion of Éire Óg’s Daniel Goulding.
