In his first year at the managerial helm Doory has led Strokestown to the AIB Connacht club football final for the first time in their history a feat few thought possible when he took over.

Before Doory's arrival, Strokestown had only won the Roscommon county title on one occasion, back in 1992, and given the fact that he had to work with a panel containing no current intercounty players, the dice looked loaded against Doory.
