We were hit by a second-half whirlwind and weren’t able to cope, says Doyle

TIPPERARY coach Michael Doyle was at a loss to explain the near total collapse of his side in the second-half of yesterday’s All-Ireland semi-final.

We were hit by a second-half whirlwind and weren’t able to cope, says Doyle

“It appeared to be all going according to plan when we led by two points at half-time. And it might have been more if the referee had allowed the goal Eoin Kelly scored to stand. But Kilkenny seemed to up their game a couple of gears in the second-half and we had no answer

“We were simply hit by a whirlwind in that second half and we weren’t able to cope. It’s as simple as that.”
