Carlow clubs fined €1,500 after fracas

THE Games Administration Committee of Carlow County Board have fined two clubs €1,500 following the abandonment of a MFC semi-final earlier this month.

The meeting between Tinryland and Rathvilly minors on September 13, was abandoned by referee John Conway four minutes from the end following an outbreak of violence involving players

The Committee handed down the fines on each club while they awarded the game to Tinryland who were leading 2-9 to 0-2 at the time of the abandonment.

One Rathvilly player, Brian Leonard, was suspended for twelve months having been reported by Conway, and other match officials for kicking on a number of occasions.

Another Rathvilly player, Martin Wall, was suspended for two months having been sent off in the second half.
