Maxwell in for Leitrim as Down wait on Gordon

THE Leitrim team to play Roscommon in Saturday's All-Ireland qualifier shows one change from that which failed to Sligo in the Connacht championship.

Declan Maxwell replaces Michael Duignan at right half-forward in a game that will end the losers' season.

Down, meanwhile, have decided to hold James McCartan in reserve for Sunday's Bank of Ireland Ulster SFC semi-final with Fermanagh at Clones even though a doubt exists about the availability of selected full-forward Dan Gordon.

Gordon was forced off with an ankle injury during Down's win over Monaghan last time out and was replaced by former AllStar McCartan.

The Down selectors, however, have named Gordon in their starting line-up but it is reported that his injured ankle is still giving cause for concern.

The likelihood is that if Gordan fails to make it McCartan will get the nod.

Armagh, with Enda McNulty still out of commission with a dislocated shoulder, have named the same team that started against Waterford for their All-Ireland qualifier with Antrim at Casement Park on Saturday.

Carlow have postponed naming their team to play Tipperary at Semple Stadium in order to give centre-back Stephen O'Brien time to recover from a back injury.

But the news on Brian Farrell is not so good. He damaged a calf muscle in the game against Westmeath some weeks ago and is struggling to be fit.

Simon Ray, however, is expected to be named in the side after recovering from an ankle injury he picked up in the same game.
