Extra-time heroics earns Glen final date with Bride
And their reward is a final date with Bride Rovers.
Cloyne did come back at them in the second period, when a last-minute goal from Diarmuid O’Sullivan left only a point between the sides.
But the Glen survived for a win they deserved over the 90 minutes.
They very nearly lost it in normal time and it took a John Anderson penalty in the final minute to take the game to extra-time.
Cloyne led 1-5 to 0-7 at half-time and Conor Cusack got what looked to be the winning goal for Cloyne in the final minute to see them lead 2-10 to 1-12 with time running out, until Anderson’s penalty tied it all up at full time at 2-10 to 1-13.
Glen’s sterling play in extra-time saw them lead 1-18 to 2-11 at the break but credit to Cloyne, they never gave up.
