Clare lose out on world handball championships

CLARE handball officials have launched an appeal against a decision that has cost them the chance of hosting the upcoming World Championships.

The decision made by the Irish steering committee, a sub-committee of the Irish Handball Council, will, the Clare Board claim, result in a loss of potential revenues for the Mid-West region in the order of 1.5m from the 1,000 plus competitors who were expected to attend.

Now the Banner men are preparing an appeal to Croke Park, in a bid to regain the prestigious event, which was hosted in the county eight years ago.
