Ring turns on magic as Youghal easily beat Críost Rí

Youghal CBS 4-7 Coláiste Chríost Rí 0-10

Youghal were quickly into their stride, scoring two quick points from Emmett Kelly and Brendan Ring and although Críost Rí levelled after seven minutes with points from Shane Nott and Eric O’Sullivan, Youghal again went two point ahead from a Ring free and a Edmond Coleman point.

It was level once more in the 13th minute with point from Seamus Roche and a David Newman free left it 0-4 each. Then following a great save by Edmond O’Donovan from Jason Roche to deny the City side a goal, Youghal began to take control. Ring set up Cillian O’Keeffe for the first goal of the game in the 17th minute, and Ring had the first of his three goals in the 20th minute. Just before half-time Ring struck again full-back Cian Crowley slipped and Ring took full advantage to billow the net.

Although Críost Rí kept picking off the odd point they were seven points in arrears at the break, trailing 3-5 to 0-7.

The game was over as a contest early in the second half when Ring scored his third goal in the 32nd minute, and although Críost Rí played much better in the second half when Youghal eased off they found the Youghal defence, in which Ivan Coyne, Alan Mythen and Enda O’Connell were outstanding, almost impossible to penetrate.
