Spotlight on Moran over ‘Battle of Tinryland’

THREE weeks ago Pat Moran was referee for the controversial Laois SHC final and the official was centre stage again in Carlow last weekend.

The Graiguecullen man sent off no less than six players during the O’Hanrahan’s-Éire Óg U-21 ‘A’ semi-final which is already being called the Battle of Tinryland.

Moran adhered strictly to the rule book in a Carlow Town derby which boiled over several times.

By the final whistle, both teams had been reduced to 12 players, with four of the half-dozen culprits going after a straight red was shown.
