Cork hurlers to meet ahead of board talks

THE Cork hurlers, disillusioned with their treatment by the county board will meet privately over the next week to finalise their strategy before entering into talks with officials.

Cork hurlers to meet ahead of board talks

Goalkeeper Donal Óg Cusack, who publicly criticised the board on local radio confirmed the county board, through a third party, had indicated a meeting between the panel and the county board was desirable. But the Cork keeper yesterday emphasised the Cork hurling panel would first of all hold a meeting among themselves and then meet with the county board.

“This is an unprecedented situation and we want to cover all the angles before we meet with the county board. It’s quite a serious situation so we don’t want to rush headlong into it,” the Cloyne man said last night. “We will be holding a players’ meeting next week at which all panel members will have an opportunity to share their views. During the year there were upwards of 35 players who trained with the panel, even though some didn’t make the cut for the concluding stages of the league, they will all be invited along. This is about all panel members,” he said.
