Ger Manley hails Cork's 'Messi' Orlaith Cahalane after All-Ireland victory

"There is nothing between the two teams," Manley said on RTÉ, "But goals win matches and we were saying that all week. Orlaith Cahalane
is probably our Messi in the team, she has so much time. And look, we were so good today. 

"Our inside line has been brilliant, (Sorcha) McCartan, Amy O'Connor, Orlaith Cahalane, I wouldn't swap them for anyone, they're dangerous when you get the ball in.

"It was tough going like any time you play Galway,  there's just a puck of a ball between us."

A tactical tweak at half-time was key to Cork coming back into the match after Galway looked the stronger side in the opening period.  

"We pushed up in the second half and put Ashling (Thompson) centre forward and she took Ciara Hickey, who's an exceptionally good player, out of the game, and then she got injured."

After a poor start to the year, and many absentees, Cork regrouped ahead of championship.

"We've such a good group, a tight group. It's been a very hard year. We knew a couple of weeks out from the championship that we had something, and they put everything in, the players, the management, the whole lot. And this is what we're here for, winning All-Irelands.

"We played a challenge against Limerick three weeks out from the (first) Galway game, and we played some great hurling, but we trained so hard. 

"The girls put so much in, we had girls came back from bad injuries, we did doubt ourselves a small bit but have so much talent. It All came in together, we got great support. We're just delighted."
