Barry Walsh will be available for the Cork U20 hurlers’ Munster semi-final against Clare in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Wednesday (7.35pm throw-in).

"Barry is fully available on Wednesday, yeah," said Cork U20 boss Noel Furlong.

"Definitely a boost [to have him]. Any time you have a player who is representing Cork at senior level coming down to play at U20 level, it can be nothing but a boost. Barry is a huge leader in our group, so to have him available is a massive boost for our group in general. It is all positive. We are delighted."

The Killeagh starlet did not line out for Furlong’s side against Waterford in their midweek clash last month at the request of the senior management, who gave him his championship debut in the win over Tipperary in Thurles the following Sunday.

Walsh also began in the seniors' home victory against Limerick last Sunday week before returning for the U20s last Wednesday when he scored 1-5 against Clare in Páirc Uí Chaoimh to secure home advantage in the semi-final.

Top scorer for the U20s with 3-28 across three outings, Walsh is set to lead the line once more against the Banner and could also be part of Ben O’Connor’s plans for the trip to Waterford on Saturday evening.

The 60-hour availability rule does not apply to Walsh this week as this weekend’s game in Azzurri Walsh Park falls outside the window from the Clare fixture.
