Gary Neville has sold the majority stake in The Overlap to commercial radio giant Global, according to the Telegraph.
The Overlap, which was founded by Neville, has become hugely popular in recent years, particularly its flagship show Stick to Football, which stars Roy Keane, alongside Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Jill Scott.
The media business The Overlap, which has branched out into cricket and rugby union as well as business and politics, had total assets of around £406,000 for the financial year up to June 30, 2024, and has more than 38 million monthly views on YouTube.
But now Global, which owns Classic FM, Capital, Heart and LBC, among others, have acquired the majority stake from its previous investors, Miroma Group, whose stake in the company was held via its investment in Buzz16, Neville’s production company.
It has been reported that the investment from Global will go back into the business, developing more brands and channels, chiefly covering football content.
