OPERATION Argillite is under way — a 1,500 strong An Garda Síochána, Uefa, and international police agency plan to prevent widespread chaos and violence at this year’s Europa League final in Dublin.

While the preparation process to protect public safety is still operating in the dark — given we still do not know the identities of the May 22 finalists — a meticulous multi-scenario security detail is being worked through by those at the heart of the operation.
