GOLF'S PGA Tour says it has unanimously decided to advance discussions with Strategic Sports Group (SSG), a consortium of US-based sports team investors that includes Fenway Sports Group, owners of Liverpool FC and Major League Baseball's Boston Red Sox. The consortium also includes investment firm Cohen Private Ventures, New York Mets owner Steve Cohen's family office and private equity firm HighPost Capital.

The PGA Tour board — six players and five independent directors — sent an email to players Sunday to say Strategic Sports Group was the unanimous choice to further negotiate a potential partnership in the new PGA Tour Enterprises.
