WATCH: Loyalty and sportsmanship in dramatic triathlon finish
British brothers Alistair and Jonny Brownlee crossed the finish line of the final race in the World Triathlon Series together, after Alistair gave up his own chance of a win to help his stricken sibling.
Jonny was in first place with only a short distance to go but got into serious difficulties, stumbling and appearing on the verge of collapse.
It looked like he wouldn’t finish as Alistair, who was in third place behind South African Henri Schoeman in second, caught up with him.
But instead Alistair grabbed Jonny, lifted his arm around his neck and all but carried him to the finish line.

Jonny collapsed the second Alistair pushed him over the line and was immediately attended by medics.
He later tweeted to say that his collapse was as a result of dehydration and not a serious issue.
Normally when you have had too much to drink. This time it was the opposite #ouch https://t.co/1BVn7evdso

He also thanked Alistair for his loyal support.
Not how I wanted to end the season, but gave it everything. Thanks @AliBrownleetri, your loyalty is incredible pic.twitter.com/6uG4QiIgfS

Alistair said he would have done the same for any competitor, although he couldn’t resist a swipe at his younger brother’s race management: “I wish the flipping idiot had just paced it right and won the race. He could have jogged the last 2km.”
Helped him out at then slagged him off - a true older brother.
