Conor McGregor’s next fight has been confirmed

Conor McGregor's rematch with Nate Diaz has been confirmed.

The two will face off on July 9 in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as part of UFC200.

UFC President Dana White says he offered McGregor the chance to fight Diaz at a lower weight, but McGregor wasn’t interested and insisted they fight at 170.

Diaz beat the Dublin fighter via a second-round rear-naked choke at UFC196 earlier this month. It was McGregor’s first time fighting at welterweight and his first defeat in the UFC.

There had been discussion over whether McGregor, who is the current Featherweight champion, would return to the 145lb weight class to defend his title but he was determined to fight Diaz again.

Instead former champion Jose Aldo will take on Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight title on the same night - with the winner then likely to get a title fight against McGregor in the future.

"Win, lose, or draw against Nate Diaz, he will go in and he will fight either Jose or Frankie," White told mmafighting.com. "Whoever wins at (UFC) 200."
